About The Long Run
The Long Run explores how knowledge work changes as it becomes asynchronous, agent-assisted, and less bound to the desktop.
The goal isn’t prediction or advocacy. It’s to observe and name shifts that are already happening — from the perspective of someone who has built systems, still values craft, and is more interested in how work feels than in chasing trends.
Software development is feeling these changes first. The desktop is still central — most of the time. But there are growing periods where it isn’t, and those periods matter disproportionately. Other forms of knowledge work will follow.
